Because every patient is different, we can only estimate the duration of your visit: Implantation usually takes one and a half hours but if needed we can put in 10 implants at the same sitting. After 7 days we remove the stitches. The healing period is 4 to 6 months, after that a 6-day return visit is necessary. Crowns or bridgework take approximately a week to install. Alternatively, you can visit us twice on two separate days. Veneers usually require a stay of approximately 7 days, or two visits a day for one or two days.

In all cases, before you travel or before your treatment starts, our dentists will examine your dental health thoroughly and give you a detailed treatment plan with prices and duration. For other treatments, please Contact Us for more details.

How Much Money Can I Save?

Crowns, bridges, or implants can cost 3-4 times more in France/Great Britain/Germany than at Hungary's excellent world-class dental facilities. Is it possible to be allergic to implants?

Implants have been around for more than forty years. Over this period no reaction to titanium implants has been detected. The material has no allergenic components and is completely neutral in the body.

Is there a minimum age for implants?

Bone growth should be completed at the time of implant placement. It is generally complete at the age of 18. Girls generally finish growing somewhat earlier whereas boys are often later. In cases of doubt this can easily be checked by an X-ray of the bones in the hand.

Is an implant still advisable at an advanced age?

It is basically never too late to improve your quality of life with implants. The treatment is so low-risk that implants can be placed in people who are 70, 80 or even 90 years of age. There is no upper age limit. If you can have other routine dental treatments and are in good health, you can also receive implants.

When can I go back to work?

After a checkup you can usually return to normal life and go back to work on the following day.

Is it really true that a general anesthetic is not required for implant placement?

Yes. The pain response in the jaw can be completely suppressed with a local anesthetic. When the implant site is drilled into the bone and the implant is screwed into place, you will feel a vibration and a slight feeling of pressure but no pain. For most patients the procedure feels like treatment for caries which is also conducted under local anesthetic. If you still want to sleep through the treatment nonetheless, just ask.

If I am a diabetic can I also have an implant?

Yes. However, you should be stable before the implant treatment. Unstable or untreated diabetes may cause problems with the healing process. In case of doubt consult your diabetes specialist.

Can I bite and eat normally with an implant-borne denture?

Regardless of whether you have an implant-borne crown, bridge or prosthesis you can eat, bite, talk and laugh just as you could formerly with your second set of teeth. The denture is so firmly fixed to your implants that you can feel quite secure.

Will the implant cause the metal detector to beep, e.g., during the security check at the airport?

No, no need to worry. Implants are not magnetic and they are also much too small for the detector to detect them. And even if the metal detector does beep and detect your implants, you will have your implant passport that will quickly resolve the situation.

Will implant-borne teeth feel like my own or will I feel as if there is a foreign object in my jaw?

Implant-borne teeth will feel perfectly natural during talking, eating and laughing. You will not feel any difference.

Could implants affect my pacemaker?

No. Implants have no electromagnetic effect. They pose no danger to the operation of your pacemaker.

How long does an implant last?

After the healing phase a correctly placed quality implant is more resistant to most influences than the natural dental root. A titanium implant with the optimum prosthetic loading will not break and it is not affected by caries. You can keep the gum and the implant site healthy with consistent oral hygiene. This means that implants can last for your entire life.

What are implants made of?

Implants are made of pure surgical titanium. The material has had such good results that now 99% of all dental implant systems are made of this material. It is very stable and compatible with the body. Titanium also becomes an integral part of the bone tissue. These positive properties have been tested for decades not only in dental implantology but also in many other areas of medicine such as joint prosthetics. The silver-gray color of titanium is also not a disadvantage, because implants, like natural roots, are completely in the jawbone and are invisible.

White implants from ceramics have also been available for some years. However, the first generations of aluminum-oxide ceramics did not have sufficient material strength to compete with titanium. Current ceramic implants are made of extremely stable zirconium-oxide ceramics and are currently being tested. Titanium is still the material of choice for implants.

Are there any risks involved in implant placement?

An implant placement is a minor operation. Complications such as injury to nerves and blood vessels are always possible during implant placement. However, this is most unlikely with the current methods of diagnostics and planning. The risks involved in implant placement are normally no greater than those in removal of a wisdom tooth.

A sudden rejection reaction of a completely healed implant is also rather improbable. However, in rare cases, the implant may not be securely integrated into the bone. In such a case it would not be sufficiently resistant to loading and would most likely have to be removed under local anesthetic. However, it is normally possible to replace it with a new implant, often during the same session - if that is your wish.

What if an implant becomes infected?

When detected early enough, infections which are caused by bacteria can usually be treated successfully. If you attend your post-operative care and prophylactic appointments regularly and also clean your teeth conscientiously at home, you should be safe.

Are implants advisable for smokers?

The long-term success rate of implants can be adversely affected by smoking. Please describe your smoking habits in the initial consultation to allow the risk to be assessed accurately in your case.

Will I be in pain after the operation?

The gum will probably be sensitive for the first few days but will not bleed. Your cheek may swell as an aftermath of the surgery and feel uncomfortable. Most patients will not even need a painkiller on the following day and will be able to return to normal life.

Can implants be placed immediately after extraction of teeth?

Yes, that can often be done the same day. The implant is placed in the fresh wound immediately after extraction of a tooth. This is referred to as immediate implant placement (not to be confused with immediate loading of implants).

How do I care for my implant-borne teeth?

Implant-borne teeth not only look like natural teeth but can also be cleaned just as easily with a toothbrush - including an electric toothbrush - and tooth paste. The inter-dental spaces and the transition areas to the gum are particularly important with implants. Bacteria settle around these regions quickly and can attack the gum and, over time, also the jawbone around the implant. This can be prevented by flossing or using small inter-dental brushes. If you wish our team can show you how to properly use these instruments and will arrange for professional cleaning at regular intervals, ideally once every three months. This will remove stubborn plaque deposits to keep your teeth brilliant and looking like new.

What can be whitening used for?

The most common reasons for teeth to get yellow or stained are aging, tobacco, tea, and coffee. All of these can stain the surface of the teeth.

It is also possible to have stains that are inside the tooth. These are called intrinsic stains. For example, intrinsic stains can be caused by exposure to too much fluoride as a child while teeth are developing. Other causes include tetracycline antibiotics. They can stain a child's teeth if taken by a mother during the second half of pregnancy or by a child who is 8 years old or younger. Teeth are still developing during these years.

Tooth whitening is most effective on surface stains caused by ageing, food and beverages.

How much whiter will my teeth look?

This varies from individual to individual and also depends on the type of whitening system used. Some people respond very well to teeth whitening and have dramatic results whereas others may notice very little difference at all. Your dentist will be able to advise you on the likely results expected with your teeth.

Does it hurt? What are the side-effects of Teeth Whitening?

Some people experience no pain or sensitivity with their teeth. However, the majority of people will experience some kind on sensitivity either during or after the initial treatment. This is usually described by patients as sporadic sharp shooting pains coming from your teeth. This should go away after approximately 48 hours. Your dentist may give you a special gel or mouse to apply to your teeth to help with the sensitivity. It is advisable to avoid hot/cold food or drinks within the first 48 hours of your whitening treatment.

Which is the best teeth whitening brand / System?

There are many different brands of professional teeth whitening systems each claiming to provide the best results. The most popular brands are SoniWhite®, Remedent®, Zoom!®, Opalescence® , BriteSmile® and the latest Enlighten system. Each of these systems have their pros and cons and your dentist will be able to discuss which system would be best suited for your teeth.
